Graphene’s unique combination of properties are enabling new composites with multifunctional benefits. Strong and light graphene-based composites are promising for aerospace applications, due to their potential for thermal management, drag-reduction and electrical conductivity, for safety during lightning strikes. Graphene-based composites have been used to boost mechanical and thermal properties in the propeller blades of a drone, on display at the Graphene Experience Zone. Also on display is a commercially available helmet with a graphene composite coating. The coating improves heat distribution and protects from damage to the helmet, demonstrating graphene’s potential for safety applications. 3D printing of graphene composites will be displayed live at the Graphene Experience Zone.
