Wearables and Health

Graphene’s thinness, flexibility and multifunctionality make it ideal for wearable technologies and health monitoring applications. At the Graphene Experience Zone, a wearable sensor band for rehabilitation will be demonstrated. Graphene-based sensors in the flexible band detect electrical signals from muscles in the arm to move a robotic hand, ideal for new prosthetic technologies. Graphene’s stability and biocompatibility also mean it is useful in implantable technologies for smart therapeutics. A retinal implant will be demonstrated in the Graphene Experience Zone. The implant converts light into electrical signals, delivering the signal to the brain via the optic nerve using a graphene interface.
