Graphene-based innovation activities are unfolding globally, but which innovation hot spots will prove the most lucrative? In the graphene innovation landscape as reflected in patents session, held at Graphene Week 2019 on Thursday 26 September at 14:30, visitors will gain access to a wealth of data across the patent landscape.
Chaired by Thomas Reiss, Graphene Flagship Industrialisation work package leader, the session will give insight into the data-rich patent landscape, highlighting emerging trends and target geographical areas for innovation. One lucrative and often over-looked research area that this type of patent analysis has made much more prominent is new composite materials.
Ulrich Schmoch from Fraunhofer ISI with begin by presenting the overview of patent landscapes. Nigel Clarke from the European Patent Office will then give a detailed analysis on composite patent applications.
The session will answer questions such as, 'where is this development taking place globally?' or 'which companies are at the forefront of patent applications?'. The data content extracted from patent applications is truly useful, enabling important conclusions about technology gaps and opportunities.
