Description of competences and capabilities sought:
The exceptional electronic properties of graphene can be advantageous when building magnetic sensors. Graphene sensors based on the Hall effect for example may therefore compete with existing technologies. Key performance parameters for such sensors are the sensitivity, which is related on the number of charge carriers, power consumption, which depends on charge carrier mobility and temperature stability.
For the first core project of the Graphene Flagship we are looking for an industrial partner, complementing the ongoing activities in the sensors work package. The contribution from the new partner is expected to be the development of magnetic sensors that outperform existing technologies using industrially compatible fabrication methods. A specific focus must thus be on the integration of the graphene-based sensors into CMOS compatible processing techniques. At the participating site the company must have a significant effort in graphene research, a strong expertise in sensor-based technologies and a proven experience with graphene processing or handling, demonstrated through European and national research projects.
Indicative budget (EC financing) for the period 1 April 2016 – 31 March 2018: 70,000 €
