Graphene’s multiple benefits for a range of applications – sensors and the Internet of Things, health and safety, energy, and data communications – are making a big difference in real-world technologies. This is exemplified at the Graphene Experience Zone by a concept car developed with graphene-containing structural components that are lighter and stronger than the carbon-fibre composites they replace. The lighter structure also improves overall energy efficiency. As well as the bodywork, graphene-based technologies are ideal for the sensor and communications networks built into modern cars, improving safety by collision avoidance, detecting stress and damage and improving energy efficiency.
