Enabling a 2D materials platform is essential to realise any kind of application of graphene or other 2D materials. We primarily deal with the development of scalable synthesis methods for 2D materials, their derivatives and heterostructures.

In order to optimise the various routes, the
understanding of the relationship between synthesis parameters and properties
in 2D materials is essential, as it allows the tuning of electronic,
structural, optical and electrochemical properties for different applications.
Different methods render different grades of materials, each one of them
suitable for specific applications. Consequently, we engage in many synthesis
routes from growth to liquid exfoliation and a multitude of characterisation
techniques. All materials synthesised and characterised in this WP will be made
available to any partners via the sample registry. The feedback will assess the
operation of our materials in applications and suggest paths to follow in the
optimisation process.
We also aim at developing metrics for rapid in situ
characterisations, assuring reproducibility and quality control.
