Graphene Week 2014 Reaches 450 Participants – Sold Out
The opening of the Graphene Week 2014 was a huge success. Some 450 researchers from all over the world working on graphene and related materials have gathered in Gothenburg, Sweden this week.
Apart from new results in fundamental science, a wide range of topics on graphene applications are on the agenda, among others: biomedical applications, large-scale production, membranes for filtration and water purification, optoelectronics, energy storage, photovoltaics and a great deal besides.

Graphene Flagship doubles in size
Coupled with the Graphene Week 2014, the Graphene Flagship announced it will increase with 66 new partners invited to join the consortium as a result of a €9 million competitive call.
“It is encouraging to see strong groups with expertise outside the usual graphene science joining the Graphene Flagship”, says Konstantin Novoselov.

Graphene Connect brings together academia and industry
“This workshop is important as it brings together academia and industrial representatives who are working on or are interested in graphene. We hope this will result in new collaborative ventures and provide greater insight into applications where the unique properties of graphene can really make a difference,” says Herre van der Zant, member of the Graphene Week Programme Committee and leader of Work Package 7 – Sensors.

More than 400 posters at Graphene Week 2014
The first poster session took place in the afternoon, where interesting research results were presented by scientists from all over the world. More than 400 posters will be presented during four afternoons. More than 400 posters will be presented during four afternoons and one poster prize of €300 per day will be granted. Leading European and American science journals EPL and AIP, sponsor with the poster session prizes. The Programme Committee will select winners and announce them at the Conference Dinner on Thursday 26 June.
Conference delegates welcomed by the City of Gothenburg
In a speech, Lena Malm, Chair of the Municipal Assembly said that she is very proud to see so many international graphene researchers in the city of Gothenburg, and welcomed everyone to the City Hall reception on Monday night.

Bringing together 118 academic and industrial partners in 12 research and innovation projects and 1 coordination and support project, the Graphene Flagship initiative will continue to advance Europe’s strategic autonomy in technologies that rely on graphene and other 2D materials.
