NEW at Graphene Week 2016: Graphene Innovation Forum

The Graphene Flagship is pleased to announce the inaugural Graphene Innovation Forum taking place during Graphene Week 2016 which will focus on the three exciting and important areas of graphene road mapping, commercialisation and standardisation.

Roadmap: Industry needs and perspective towards electronics applications

The Graphene Innovation Forum begins with a session dedicated entirely to road mapping graphene and other 2D materials towards electronics applications and will focus firmly on the needs and perspectives of industry. Graphene and other 2D material technologies have promising properties and the potential to lead to advancements in electronics applications, such as sensors or telecommunication. The benefit and potential of graphene and other 2D materials to contribute to relevant market needs has already been shown in many lab-based demonstrators. However, before the technology can find its way into products, several issues have to be addressed, in particular the means of manufacturing. This session deals with the industry needs and perspective with respect to the development of graphene and other 2D materials for electronics applications. The goal is to provide insights on industrial demands for graphene integration so that researchers and developers get a realistic idea of what needs to be addressed in the coming years. The session will provide an overview of particular needs in electronics related application industries as well as in the semiconductor industry. Main challenges and barriers towards integration of graphene and other 2D materials will be addressed, so that the audience gets an idea of how a roadmap for graphene integration in electronics could look like.
Presentations will be given by Avik Ghosh (University of Virginia), Daniel Neumaier (AMO GmbH), Günther Ruhl (Infineon), Robert Rölver (Bosch) and Claus Marquordt (RD support). The session will be finished by a moderated panel discussion with the speakers.

Commercialisation: The Route to Commercialisation

Commercialisation is at the heart of the Graphene Innovation Forum and this session will explore how to accelerate graphene and related 2D materials through to commercialisation starting with the stages of concept development, proof of concept and validation in the lab. A number of different companies, all in the middle of the commercialisation path, will talk about their experience and share their insights. Attendees will get a well rounded view of the commercialisation process.

Standardization of Graphene and other 2D materials

The importance of standardisation for any material that is to be commercially successful cannot be overstated and there are many different issues surrounding standardisation of graphene and other 2D materials. All of these issues will be explored and discussed in this session of the Graphene Innovation Forum. Characterisation and reporting techniques will be talked about in detail to give a clear overview of industry norms and current standards.
Wednesday 15 June

With the introduction of the Graphene Innovation Forum to Graphene Week 2016 the Graphene Flagship is sending a very clear message about the direction that graphene needs to take within Europe – a direction that points directly towards commercialisation, and there has never been a more exciting or important time to attend Graphene Week 2016.
