​​Why Graphene Week?
Even though I have not attended it before, I know that Graphene Week has evolved to be one of the main forums for presentation of latest research on two dimensional (2D) materials. Since a substantial fraction of my research is now on semiconducting 2D materials, I believe that there will be possibilities for exciting discussions.

What will your talk be about?
The principal spectroscopic features of 2D matierals such as MoSe2 or WSe2 have been identified as exciton and trion lines. Through a combination of theoretical and experimental work, we have shown recently that these spectral features are actually associated with Fermi-polaron excitations. Remarkably, the exciton-electron interactions lead not only to an attractive polaron but also a metastable repulsive polaron. Our findings have important consequences for experiments aimed at modifying transport using optical excitations.
