Why Graphene Week?
I got an invitation many months ago. I heard Graphene Society of Korea recommended me to be one of speakers in Graphene Week Conference. However, I didn't know the conference. So, I asked one of my colleagues and he strongly suggested me to attend, saying that this is much focused conference. All scientists are working in the same field and they will discuss the same topics, sharing in-depth knowledge. Thus, I decided to accept the invitation.

What will your talk be about?
We discovered a method for mass production of edge-selectively functionalized graphene nanoplatelets (EFGnPs) by mechanochemical ball-milling (PNAS 2012, 109, 5588). This technology was transferred to industry with $1M plus 1.5% of total annual sale for next 10 years. I believe that this technology is the most efficient method to produce the high-quality graphene nanoplatelets (GnPs) with various specific functionalities for many different applications at the lowest cost to date. Some of EFGnPs are commercially available (www.deokyang.com). I will talk about our new technology for a commercial production of GnPs and their applications.
