What is the Graphene Flagship?

Bringing together 126 academic and industrial partners in 13 research and innovation projects and 1 coordination and support project, the Graphene Flagship initiative will continue to advance Europe’s strategic autonomy in technologies that rely on graphene and other 2D materials. The initiative, which builds on the previous 10-years of the Graphene Flagship, is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.

Jack Maughan’s Work at the Edge of Graphene and Neuroscience

At the crossroads of cutting-edge materials science and advanced biomedical engineering, Jack Maughan is building tools that could reshape how we treat and interact with the brain. A postdoctoral researcher with a background in nanoscience and tissue engineering, Jack is exploring how graphene-based microneedles can enable next-generation neural interfaces devices that could one day treat neurological disorders, restore movement, and even enhance human-machine communication.

2D-Pilot Line MPW run OPEN

This MPW run by Graphenea Semiconductors is tailored for liquid sample measurements, offering features particularly suited for biosensing and liquid biopsies. The passivated contacts prevent large leakage currents and device degradation upon contact with the liquid analyte, enabling measurements in saline solutions, as well as biological fluids like blood, plasma, saliva, and sweat.
