A consortium of 11 partners from six European nations has officially launched the GRAPHERGIA project, an ambitious 3.5-year Research and Innovation endeavour, funded by €4.5 million under the banner of Horizon Europe's Graphene Flagship initiative. Aimed at redefining the integration of energy solutions into everyday life, GRAPHERGIA is set to transform how we use and store energy, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards a climate-neutral future.
Graphene can be produced using a range of methods, but what are the most sustainable options? To answer this question, Graphene Flagship researchers published three studies related to the sustainable production of graphene related materials and their life cycle assessment – the best tool to evaluate the environmental footprint of a product or material.
The Graphene Flagship will exhibit exciting graphene applications for the energy sector at Enlit Europe, from 29 November to 1 December 2022 in Frankfurt.
The next generation of solar power is just around the corner. the solar cells created by the Graphene Flagship's GRAPES Spearhead Project are a unique fusion of silicon and perovskite technologies, enhanced by graphene.
The CircuitBreakers Spearhead Project, funded by the Graphene Flagship and led by industrial partners ABB, Nanesa and GraphMaTech AB, is developing a first-of-their-kind grease-free, maintenance-free, low-voltage circuit breakers for fault protection in key parts of the electrical grid.
The Graphene Flagship proudly welcome Bright Day Graphene, our latest Associated Member. Founded in 2017, Bright Day Graphene AB, in Sweden, strives to offer high performing materials without harmful environmental impacts.
By the end of Graphene Flagship Core 3 in 2023, our Spearhead Project GrEEnBat plans to enter the four-year automotive development cycle with their battery module.
Cecilia Mattevi was an invited speaker at Graphene Week 2021, where she showed us her exciting work on the 3D-printing of energy storage devices – with the help of graphene. "We are very interested in layered materials, in particular graphene, for energy applications" she says.
