Innovation Forum
Tue 23 - Thur 25, 2:15 - 6:15 PM, Room C
The Innovation Forum focuses on innovation and commercialisation of applications containing 2D materials. It provides an opportunity to hear about successful implementations and challenges from both start-ups and larger corporations. The presentations during the Innovation Forum are short and sharp, which gives more time for interaction through discussions and questions. Interactive panel discussions with industrial representatives probe into future application. The Graphene Flagship’s work in both standardisation and roadmapping are presented. There are also always opportunities to network and discuss ideas and future collaborations with the presenters as well as fellow attendees.
Innovation Forum Sessions

Opening Session
Tuesday 14:15 - 15:15
The innovation Forum will kick off with the Graphene Flagship’s Head of Innovation, Kari Hjelt, giving an update of the Market landscape for 2D material innovations. Thereafter, a keynote presentation by Jeffrey Hunt from Boeing. What is the future of 2D materials from a large enterprise’s point of view?

Commericalisation of graphene applications
Tuesday 15:15 - 17:15 (with coffee break)
The Graphene Flagship Spearhead Projects were specific industry lead projects with the aim of pushing commercialisation of graphene applications. It has been two years since the end of these projects. We will now get an update of the progress since then, from four of the projects. Are there any products on the market? What challenges have they met? Obstacles moving forward? Success stories? How big is the market?

How to raise capital for commercialisation?
Wednesday 14:15 - 15:15
A great idea is not enough to get an innovation from the lab to market. In this session we will hear valuable insights about successful fundraising and learn what it takes to commercialise 2DMaterial inventions.

Commercialisation pitches
Wednesday 15:15 - 16:15
Fast and fabulous presentations about new 2D material applications. What’s their unique selling points? How big is the market? How good are the teams? How far from commercialisation are they? Why use 2D materials? Six ideas will be presented and grilled (?) about their value by a panel and the audience.

Bring standards to the factory floor
Wednesday 16:45 - 18:15
Standards are an essential tool for building trust between the various partners in the value chain of graphene and other related 2D materials (GR2M). Initial steps have already been taken in this regard, but some questions remain unanswered.
What is the future of standardisation for GR2M? What do manufacturers of GR2M expect from standardisation? How can standardisation support quality control of GR2M?
Experts from SMEs and institutions involved in developing standards are working to answer these and other questions. The focus of this workshop is on how standards can support SMEs in their work, help build trust in their products, and what contributions standard-developing institutions can make in this context.

2D-PL Session
Thursday 14:15 - 15:15
Come discover the full value chain of the 2D-Pilot Line project which is working to bring 2D material integration for semiconductor applications out of the lab and into commercial applications. Come learn about the current state of 2DM wafer-scale integration and the challenges to full industrialisation.

From fundamental research to innovation applications
Thursday 15:15 - 18:15 (with coffee break)
A mixture of start-ups and established companies will share stories of the transitional journeys from scientists in the lab to making a difference “in the real world”. What is the market pull for the 2D material inventions? How to get over ‘the valley of death’? What incentives are needed for a scientist to swap writing of scientific publications with hustling for customers?
