How to find us

Most visitors arrive in Munich by train or plane.

By train, Munich has excellent international connections. It is possible to travel from Munich to Amsterdam on a single train, and French TGVs speed to Paris in just six hours.

The nearest airport to Munich is Munich (MUC) Airport, located 28.6 km from the centre, served by the S-Bahn local trains. Other nearby airports include Memmingen (FMM) (101.1 km), Nuremberg (NUE) (155.2 km) and Stuttgart (STR) (186.3 km).

The state capital offers an excellent public transport network. For the most part, though, you should be able to get around on foot, with an occasional S-Bahn or U-Bahn trip to outlying attractions like the BMW Museum or the Olympic Park.

Cycling is healthy, fun and is often the easiest way of getting around Munich.

  • It is one of Bavaria’s most-visited attractions, drawing in around three million visitors per year - twice as many as Neuschwanstein Castle.
  • BWM Welt is free to visit.
  • It’s a short subway ride away from Munich centre. BMW Welt is in Munich’s north-west, a short stroll away from the Petuelring S-Bahn station.
  • It’s right beside Munich’s Olympic Park, where you can explore the wonderfully futuristic arenas and stadiums of the 1972 games. The park is also home to a beer garden and Munich’s Sea Life museum.
