Graphergia Hub Webinar Series: High-Performance Flexible Micro-Supercapacitors and Advanced Self-Healing Battery Technologies
Webinar#6 - Scientific Session
The sixth edition of the GRAPHERGIA Hub Webinar Series explores recent advances in flexible micro-supercapacitors and self-healing battery technologies: two key areas shaping the future of energy storage. As demand grows for intelligent devices, wearable electronics, medical sensors, electric mobility, and sustainable energy systems, researchers are developing innovative solutions that deliver higher performance, greater durability, and improved safety. This webinar features leading experts from the GRAPHERGIA and PHOENIX projects to discuss cutting-edge developments that could transform next-generation energy storage technologies.
With the advent of the intelligent era, there is a continuous demand for intelligent robots, wearable electronic devices, implantable medical sensors and so on. Flexible miniature energy storage devices, such as micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) and micro-batteries, play indispensable roles in powering various components. Among these flexible energy storage devices, MSCs have been recognised for their various favourable features, including high power density, fast charging/discharging times, long lifespan, and high safety. However, the low energy density has seriously hindered their application. Therefore, efforts have been devoted to improving capacitance or broadening the operating window to achieve high energy density, as energy density is directly correlated with capacitance and the square of the working voltage window. On the other hand, next-generation batteries will also prioritise safety, durability and environmental sustainability. The demand for batteries in electric mobility, grid energy storage, and consumer electronics is projected to increase tenfold in the next decade. However, to increase battery acceptance, battery costs over the lifetime still need to be reduced, and battery performance, reliability, and safety need to be improved.
This sixth GRAPHERGIA Hub Webinar Series discusses high-performance, flexible micro supercapacitors and self-healing battery technologies, with the discussion shaped by two keynote presentations from three dedicated researchers of these sectors. The session is open to industry professionals, the scientific community and students working on the topic.
