The Graphene Flagship's Privacy Policy

Chalmers University of Technology (hereafter Chalmers), as coordinator of the Graphene Flagship, is responsible for all processing of personal data held on the Graphene Flagship website, Onboard (the project intranet platform) and Harbour (the Graphene Flagship's associated members and partnering projects platform).

Below you can find out how personal data is collected and handled by Chalmers via the sites mentioned above.

Chalmers processes personal data in compliance with Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council. These rules are called the General Data Protection Regulation, also known as GDPR.

What does Chalmers University of Technology do with personal data collected through the Graphene Flagship?

Personal data is collected and used for communication between Graphene Flagship partners, interaction with the Graphene Flagship's associated members and partnering projects, and to send out information to persons interested in the Graphene Flagship's activities and events. It is also used to control access to the Graphene Flagship members areas.

 

What personal data does Chalmers University of Technology collect through the Graphene Flagship?

Chalmers collects personal data for you to receive the Graphene Flagship's public newsletter, participate in a Graphene Flagship's event, or access the Graphene Flagship's members areas.

Concretely, Chalmers collects the following personal data:

  • The Graphene Flagship's public newsletters: Name and email address, and optionally your affiliation.

  • Participation at Graphene Flagship's events (Graphene Week, Graphene Study, Graphene Connect, Graphene Market Place, Diversity in Graphene): name, affiliation, role, gender, and contact details. It might also include dietary requirements (optional) and other details concerning your participation at the event.

When signing up to the Graphene Flagship's public events the registration tools contain information about GDPR, as well as what personal data is collected and what it will be used for, before the person gives consent to use this data.

Chalmers does not collect personal data through the Graphene Flagship's website. See the section on cookies.

 

How is your personal data protected?

Chalmers ensures that the processing of personal data is protected by appropriate technical and organisational measures. The measures are such that they guarantee a level of security that is commensurate with the risk of the processing. The security aspects include confidentiality, accuracy and accessibility, plus adequate technical protection.

 

Who may view your personal data?

Since the Graphene Flagship is a multi-partner research project, sharing of project related data - including personal data collected via the Graphene Flagship sites - is exempt from requests for public access as per the Swedish Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (2009:400).

Persons with access to  Graphene Flagship members sites can only view a limited set of personal data on employees of the Graphene Flagship's partners i.e. name, email address, affiliation, and role within the Graphene Flagship.

All Graphene Flagship partners have agreed via the Graphene Flagship consortium agreement that they "shall take all necessary steps to ensure that all Personal Data is processed in accordance with the GDPR and any other applicable data protection law and in accordance with the purpose or purposes for which it was collected".

 

How long does Chalmers University of Technology save personal data collected through the Graphene Flagship?

Chalmers saves data for as long as demanded by European Commission reporting and data storage requirements. We aim to remove personal data immediately upon notice of removal. When a partner or associated member leaves the Graphene Flagship the personal data of their personnel listed on our member sites will also be removed.

 

Rights under the General Data Protection Regulation

The General Data Protection Regulation confers several rights on you as an individual, namely:

Right of access: You are entitled to request a response as to whether Chalmers processes personal data about you and to receive a copy of the personal data processed at no charge.

Right to rectification: You are entitled to request that your personal data collected by Chalmers through the Graphene Flagship be rectified if it is inaccurate.

Right to erasure ('right to be forgotten'): You are entitled to have your personal data erased from Chalmers' systems if the personal data is no longer required to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected.
