Graphene Week postponed – Join our new online event!

Graphene Week in Strasbourg has been postponed to 2021. This year, we will celebrate the occasion with an online event.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we regretfully have no choice but to postpone Graphene Week 2020. The next edition of the leading European conference on graphene and layered materials will instead take place in Strasbourg, France, on 20-24 September 2021. This year, the Graphene Flagship will instead offer an online alternative, featuring a diverse range of fantastic speakers, several sessions on graphene innovation and a broad programme to attract people from all around the world.

The new online event will be included in our new 'Graphene For…' series of digital events, which will kick off next week with 'Graphene For Energy Storage Applications'. The theme of the online conference to be held 22-24 September 2020 will be 'Graphene For Research, Innovation and Collaboration', reflecting the Graphene Flagship's mission statement. We are still finalising the details and confirming our invited speakers, so stay tuned for more information. To join the conversation on social media, follow @GrapheneEU on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube.

If you can't wait to learn more about this one-of-a-kind event, here's a little sneak peek: three keynote speakers Philip Kim from Harvard University, USA; Valeria Nicolosi from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland; Konstantin Novoselov from The Manchester University, UK have confirmed their involvement. Moreover, we will host  sessions on graphene and related layered material research and innovation. An online poster session will give researchers a chance to share their work. Last but not least, the digital event will be rounded off with two exclusive sessions dedicated to diversity and sustainability in the graphene community.

'Graphene For Research, Innovation and Collaboration' will be a digital event. Registration will open soon, and our registration page will be announced on our website and social media pages in due course. You can also stay up to date by subscribing to the Graphene Flagship Newsletter.

Bringing together 118 academic and industrial partners in 12 research and innovation projects and 1 coordination and support project, the Graphene Flagship initiative will continue to advance Europe’s strategic autonomy in technologies that rely on graphene and other 2D materials. The initiative, which builds on the previous 10-years of the Graphene Flagship, is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. The 2D-Experimental Pilot Line, addressing the challenges of upscaling 2D material production processes for the semiconductor industry, is another key component of the Graphene Flagship eco-system.
