Collaboration with China

EU Funded

History: Some initial contacts between the Graphene Flagship and China were made during the ramp-up phase, nevertheless, interactions are relatively recent. The first EU – China workshop was held in 2017 in Beijing, China during the Core 1 phase followed by two workshops, in Dresden in 2018 and in Shanghai in 2019, in the Core 2 phase.

Topics in spotlight: current and emerging topics associated with fundamental materials synthesis, physics, energy and devices for graphene related 2D materials and heterostructures.

Visits: Participants had the opportunity to visit the laboratories of the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing during the first event.

The EU Graphene Flagship and our Chinese colleagues maintain a close collaboration, especially in the areas of fundamental growth of graphene and 2D materials, as well as in studies of their physical and chemical properties. In recent years, China has become one of the key players in the field of graphene applications, and in some aspects of their experience it is also very interesting for mutual exchange and collaboration
