Meganne Christian was selected as a member of the ESA astronaut reserve in November 2022. Since 2014 Meganne has worked as a researcher at Graphene Flagship Partner Institute of Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity and the Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems in Bologna, Italy. During this time, she took part in two parabolic flight campaigns to test graphene coatings for thermal management in satellites. She also spent two sabbaticals in the Concordia station in Antarctica to provide data on the atmospheric physics and meteorology. She wants to apply graphene in extreme environments, such as space and the poles.
