Graphene Flagship launches Innovation Education and Training Platform

Our new centralised platform offers courses for researchers to learn about managing results effectively, patenting technologies, creating start-ups and more

To kick off the new phase of the project, the Graphene Flagship has launched an innovation-focused online hub to support researchers' professional careers.

The Graphene Flagship stands for European Research, Innovation and Collaboration. Moving forward into the new phase of our project, we will be nourishing innovation more than ever, supporting and guiding our network of talented researchers towards more applied technologies. To this end, we are introducing the Innovation Education and Training Platform.

Launched today, the platform serves as a central training hub for Graphene Flagship researchers looking to bolster their professional careers in scientific innovation and academic entrepreneurship. The platform, coordinated by our Innovation Work Package, offers a whole host of video courses and resources covering a range of topics, including intellectual property, patenting, start-up creation, technology transfer, venture capital and more – all in one place. The wealth of content is provided by the Graphene Flagship's very own experts, in addition to several courses from the European Patent Office.

The platform offers training for researchers at any stage in their career, and aims to help researchers establish and solidify their presence in an increasingly competitive commercial environment. To get started, visit our registration page.

As the new phase of the Graphene Flagship project commences, we are excited to see our twelve spin-off companies flourish and our eleven new industry-focused Spearhead Projects make their mark on their respective fields. But we are just as committed to supporting new innovations in graphene and layered materials, and we are hopeful that our Innovation Education and Training Platform will help talented Graphene Flagship researchers get their products out of the lab and onto the market.

Kari Hjelt, Head of Innovation at the Graphene Flagship, adds: "The Innovation Education and Training Platform will help our partners to make proactive decisions that increase the likelihood of innovation and commercialisation. The content covers general topics on how to turn research into products and services, with an emphasis on hands-on techniques, as well as subjects of specific relevance to the Graphene Flagship and the graphene market. We hope to see active participation!"
