Get inspired on Inspiration Day
Graphene Week is around the corner. The week kicks off with Inspiration Day – a day filled with insight, motivation and stimulation. Register for free today.
On Monday 20 September Europe's Leading Graphene Conference begins with a free digital Inspiration Day. The day covers numerous hot graphene-related topics that will provide in-depth knowledge and incentives for further discussions during the week.
Graphene Week inspires scientists, entrepreneurs, students and anyone interested in graphene and layered materials, from across Europe and beyond. It’s a world-leading arena for people to exchange ideas and get connected, and there’s no better way to start out than with Inspiration Day.
Check out some of the highlights.
Open Forum
We’ll open the conference with a look at the Graphene Flagship’s success in enhancing Europe's technological sovereignty and strengthening the EU’s competitiveness in key fields such as digitalisation, renewable energy, aerospace and medical technologies with insights from the Director General for DG Connect at the European Commission, Roberto Viola, and Graphene Flagship Director Jari Kinaret.
Horizon Europe Session
Discover what Horizon Europe means for those in the field of graphene and related materials. Speakers Marie-Alexandra Neouze (FLAG-ERA), Jean-François Buggenhout (DG Connect) and Jari Kinaret (Graphene Flagship) will address the opportunities that come along with the European Union’s key funding programme for research and innovation. Join online and learn more about Horizon Europe and graphene, as well as relevant calls published by the European Commission.
Ethics Session
Is Graphene a bad idea? One of the guiding principles for driving innovation in the tech industry is “Disrupt first – Ask Questions Later”. But is this approach acceptable when the concept of Responsible Research and our accountability for long term impact on the environment and society are increasingly in focus? Ursula Hohlneicher (AstraZeneca, Sweden), Steven Savage (FOI, Sweden) and Norberto Patrignani (Politecnico di Torino, Italy) discuss ethical research and approaches to anticipate potential consequences of new technologies.
Diversity Session
Diversity opens the door to a broader range of talent, encouraging the sharing of new ideas and experiences, and providing insight into the needs and motivations of an increasingly multicultural world. Mina Stareva (EU Commission) speaks about the EU support for gender and diversity in research and innovation, and how the European Commission is stepping up its efforts to ensure gender equality where all talents can thrive.
