Graphene Flagship suspends Russian and Belarussian institutions, provides Ukrainian travel grants
In response to the war in Ukraine, Graphene Flagship Director Jari Kinaret has created a grant to support Ukrainian researchers wishing to participate in Graphene Flagship events. Russian and Belarussian institutions have been suspended from the project.
Considering the current European Union sanctions on the Russian Federation and Belarus for the invasion of Ukraine, the Graphene Flagship ceases all interactions with Russia and Belarus until further notice. For this reason, collaboration with Russian and Belarussian entities in the framework of our partnering mechanism and/or our international workshops has been suspended. We hope for a quick resolution to the war in Ukraine and a return to a peaceful and collaborative environment for research and innovation in Europe.
Support for Ukrainian Researchers
In order to support Ukrainian researchers being affected by the war in Ukraine, Graphene Flagship Director Jari Kinaret has reserved EUR 10,000 from the coordinator’s budget to help them participate in events organised by the project.
Doctoral-degree researchers affiliated with Ukrainian organisations can from now, and until further notice, apply for funding to attend events organised by the Graphene Flagship. This grant can cover conference related expenses (e.g. conference fees, housing and travel) up to a total of EUR 2,000.
The application shall include (as a single pdf-file, if possible):
- A short description of ongoing research (maximum 250 words)
- A short description and agenda of the meeting/conference
- CV
- Budget
- Travel details (Date, time of departure and return, description of accommodation)
- Name and contact details for a contact person at the host department
Applications should be sent by email to event@graphene-flagship.eu with the subject line “Ukrainian researchers travel grant”. Applications are processed continuously in the order they are received.
