‘Graphene For Energy Storage’ digital seminar arrives next week

Join Nobel Laureate Konstantin Novoselov and a panel of experts for an afternoon of insight into graphene’s role in the energy storage technologies of the future

Energy storage devices are ubiquitous in modern computers, phones, cars and beyond. As ever, the Graphene Flagship's passionate and talented scientists are on the hunt for new ways to enhance and iterate upon these technologies using graphene and layered materials. Now, the Graphene Flagship is proud to announce the first 'Graphene For' virtual event – Graphene For Energy Storage. The event is open to anyone and everyone with an interest in energy storage technologies, and will take place online on Wednesday 17 June 2020.

Graphene For Energy Storage will feature talks from Nobel Laureate Konstantin Novoselov and a whole host of prominent scientists at the forefront of supercapacitors, batteries and innovative materials. The event will serve as the ideal entry point for students and non-experts in the field of energy storage, but will also provide new insight and thinking points for researchers further along in their careers.

The lineup of speakers also includes Patrik Johansson and Aleksandar Matic from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, Vittorio Pellegrini from BeDimensional, Italy, Graphene Flagship Director Jari Kinaret from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, Kristina Edström from Uppsala University, Sweden, and Yury Gogotsi from Drexel University, USA.

"In our increasingly electrified society, we must face the challenge of optimising our energy production and storage technologies. Graphene For Energy Storage will explore the ways in which graphene and layered materials can really make a difference in the future," comments Vittorio Pellegrini from Graphene Flagship partner BeDimensional, Italy. Pellegrini will co-chair the event alongside Aleksandar Matic and Patrik Johansson from Graphene Flagship partner Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.

You can also join the conversation about graphene for energy storage on our social media channels. Chat with world-leading experts in the field using the hashtag #G4ENERGY, and engage with our @GrapheneEU profiles on LinkedInTwitterFacebookInstagram and YouTube.

Registration is open. Please visit the Graphene For Energy Storage web page to sign up!

Graphene Study back next year

Our in-person Graphene Study event will be running as normal next year. Graphene Study 2021 will focus on the applications of graphene in energy storage devices, and will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden, in the summer of 2021. More information will be announced later in the year – stay tuned!

Bringing together 118 academic and industrial partners in 12 research and innovation projects and 1 coordination and support project, the Graphene Flagship initiative will continue to advance Europe’s strategic autonomy in technologies that rely on graphene and other 2D materials. The initiative, which builds on the previous 10-years of the Graphene Flagship, is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. The 2D-Experimental Pilot Line, addressing the challenges of upscaling 2D material production processes for the semiconductor industry, is another key component of the Graphene Flagship eco-system.
