Graphene Week: Something for everyone
The 19th edition of Graphene Week, to be held in Prague, Czech Republic 14-18 October 2024 will offer a rich programme as the Graphene Flagship celebrates its new projects and 20 years of 2D materials research and innovation since the isolation of graphene.
This year, the Graphene Week programme will benefit from the unique expertise of our 12 Research and Innovation Actions (RIAs) and Innovation Actions (IAs) each focused on specific areas of 2D materials. The projects will work with us on creating both parallel sessions and workshops within their areas. Attendees will also have a chance to learn about our new projects in the Graphene Flagship Exhibition.
As in the past, the core of Graphene Week will focus on graphene and 2D materials research with an emphasis on excellent science from leading researchers. Keynotes from Yuri Gogotsi, Valeria Nicolosi, Arben Merkoçi and Manuela Melucci will open each day.
Our Innovation Forum, helps to connect industry and science, with discussions on commercialisation challenges, industrial successes and more. This year a special focus on standardisation and roadmapping will help to identify the work needed to ensure that graphene for commercial applications is of reliable standards to ensure reproducibility in manufacturing. A workshop in conjunction with REACH-ECHA will explore the materials classification of graphene and other 2D materials.
Beyond research and innovation, Graphene Week is a fantastic venue for students to build skills, such as in IOP Publishing's session on how to become a peer reviewer. It also provides a platform for the community to discuss salient topics, like diversity, equity and inclusion in science, in the Diversity in Graphene Session, as well as being a great space for networking. Our welcome reception and conference dinner provide time to rekindle old friendships, meet new members of the community and spark future collaborations.
We look forward to meeting you all in Prague this fall!
