Graphene Week 2022: Where science meets business

Our Graphene Flagship conference Graphene Week comes back in person this year! We’re travelling to the BMW Welt in Munich, Germany, one of the most important innovation hubs in Europe, to discover the latest advances in graphene and layered materials.

After two successful online editions, Graphene Week welcomes everyone back in person! And we’re gathering at the heart of European innovation – the BMW Welt in Munich, Germany. On top of featuring the world’s leading research in graphene and layered materials, this multidisciplinary event will establish connections with key companies in aerospace, automotive, energy and biotech. It’s the perfect setting to broaden your horizons and establish new fruitful collaborations.

Graphene Week 2022 returns with breath-taking in-person events – including plenary and parallel sessions, industrial innovation, a dedicated early-career branch and many opportunities for networking and interaction. Nobel Laureate Andre Geim, from Graphene Flagship partner the University of Manchester, UK, will kick-off the conference, presenting the latest advances in the field. As in previous years, our sessions will be split between research, innovation and inspiration, covering different topics and combining academic expertise with industrial leadership.

What's more, the event will count on amazing social activities, organised by our local hosts in Germany. Graphene Week 2022 is  the ideal place to connect with new people! The in-person #GrapheneExperience is back – get ready to network.

Now, abstract submissions are open. Send your contributions for both oral and poster communications, and take advantage of a unique chance to present, publish, discuss, and exhibit your work withleading experts in the field of graphene and layered materials. Furthermore, we strongly support early-career researchers, offering up to 200 student grants to cover part of the registration fees. Keep an eye on the deadlines for both processes on our website and social media! Don’t miss the opportunity to join Europe’s leading event in the field – from 5 to 9 September 2022 in Munich, Germany.

Georg Duesberg, Graphene Week 2022 Chair, says: “We will deliver an outstanding programme, featuring the most relevant leaders in the field of graphene and layered materials, both from academia and industry. The conference in Munich will become a beacon of innovation and cooperation, offering researchers a unique opportunity to expand their networks and establish new fruitful collaborations.”

Luciana Loberg, Graphene Flagship Events Manager, adds: “Graphene Week 2022 is all about reconnecting with people, while talking about graphene and layered materials. On top of our regular sessions, we will feature dedicated activities for our early career scientists, a session on diversity and inclusion and many different social events; to expand your horizons and foster collaboration. It’s all about what we’ve called the #GrapheneExperience: an exclusive venue, an exquisite programme and, overall, a one-of-a-kind event.”

Bringing together 118 academic and industrial partners in 12 research and innovation projects and 1 coordination and support project, the Graphene Flagship initiative will continue to advance Europe’s strategic autonomy in technologies that rely on graphene and other 2D materials. The initiative, which builds on the previous 10-years of the Graphene Flagship, is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. The 2D-Experimental Pilot Line, addressing the challenges of upscaling 2D material production processes for the semiconductor industry, is another key component of the Graphene Flagship eco-system.
