What is the Graphene Flagship?
Bringing together 126 academic and industrial partners in 13 research and innovation projects and 1 coordination and support project, the Graphene Flagship initiative will continue to advance Europe’s strategic autonomy in technologies that rely on graphene and other 2D materials. The initiative, which builds on the previous 10-years of the Graphene Flagship, is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.

Tarik Hossain: “2DSPIN-TECH is pushing boundaries”
Our series of promising young researchers in the exciting field of 2D materials and spintronics continues. Now it’s time to meet Tarik Hossain from the University of Jena in Germany, involved in the 2DSPIN-TECH project.
Roselle Ngaloy: "These materials are incredibly exciting"
Roselle Ngaloy is one of the young researchers involved in the 2DSPIN-TECH project. She is working on device-level characterisation of 2D magnets, loves clean room activities and got inspired by her mother – and the Queen of Carbon.
Participate in the 2D-Pilot Line's MPW runs
The 2D-PL offers multi-project wafer (MPW) runs in which customer designs are included as dies on joint wafers where you can "share the mask to share the costs”. Currently there are three MPW offerings available for CMOS devices, biosensors and photonics applications. A 50% fee reduction is available for those willing to provide feedback to help the project improve its processes.

Using AI in Academia and Research Workshop
As AI and AI tools rapidly enter the world of academia, understanding how to use them effectively has become essential. This digital workshop, hosted by the Graphene Flagship, offers an accessible introduction to the benefits and challenges of integrating AI into research workflows. Tailored for students and early-career researchers, the session will highlight applications in publishing, communication, productivity, and responsible research practices. Speakers from the Institute of Physics Publishing, Science Talk and the Graphene Flagship will share practical guidance and reflections. Join us on 27 January 2026, 13:00 - 14:30 (CET)
Graphene Week 2026
Supported by the European Commission, Graphene Week stands at the forefront of cutting-edge research, innovation, and technology. As Europe's leading and longest-running graphene conference, it unites over 500 international experts and students to discuss key topics concerning graphene and 2D materials. This 21st edition of Graphene Week will be held in Porto, Portugal, 21-25 September 2026!
