The Graphene Flagship continues succeeding in its goal of bringing graphene and layered materials to the European market. Funded by the European Commission, our project develops new technologies to revolutionise industry, from sustainable transportation to efficient communications.

The Graphene Flagship has catalysed research and innovation in the realm of graphene and layered materials since the very beginning. Covering both fundamental and applied science, the consortium nourishes a diverse and multidisciplinary environment with more than 250 organisations all over Europe.

One of the Graphene Flagship’s most fundamental goals is to get new graphene-based products into the hands of consumers.

By the end of Graphene Flagship Core 3 in 2023, our Spearhead Project GrEEnBat plans to enter the four-year automotive development cycle with their battery module.

Cecilia Mattevi was an invited speaker at Graphene Week 2021, where she showed us her exciting work on the 3D-printing of energy storage devices – with the help of graphene. "We are very interested in layered materials, in particular graphene, for energy applications" she says.

The Graphene Flagship has welcomed 18 new individual Associated Members since the start of Core 3. Our team expands collaborations with key European SMEs, companies, and research centres to further promote innovation in graphene and layered materials.
